Catalan cuisine is frankly something I’ve always been alien to. In fact, make that Spanish food as a whole! Besides those delicious, crunchy churros that everybody loves, I’ve just not had the opportunity to experience true Catalan food.
That’s why I was super excited when Opera Samfaina — a unique ‘gastro-experience’ in the heart of La Rambla, Barcelona — invited me to their beautiful city. I spent five amazing days in Barça, and this video you’re about to watch was on our second day when we ventured on a foodie tour of Barcelona.
We visited the colourful La Boqueria food market, entered chocolate heaven at Chok Barcelona, had a lovely picnic — courtesy of Barcelona Picnic — at Bunker del Carmel overlooking the Barcelona skyline, and ended the afternoon with an ice cold beer at Torre de Alta Mar.
As you can tell from that list, we ate a lot that day!
To wrap up an incredible day, the last foodie experience was at Opera Samfaina themselves, where we were treated to a theatrical dining experience (you’ll see what I mean) that educated us on Catalan cuisine, indulged in some traditional (and local) food & wine, and admired Opera Samfaina’s stunning decor that so typically represents Barcelona’s quirky character. Honestly, and not just because they invited us, it was an unforgettable experience that I’d recommend to anybody visiting Barça.
