2017 has been a roller coaster year.

At the end of March, I officially set up my own marketing agency to help small businesses leverage the online world: Maia Marketing. It’s been nearly two years since I left my full-time job to freelance, so this felt like the right time to take the next big step and trade as an “official business”.

Then in mid-April, I turned 28 years old and celebrated with everyone I care about which was amazing.

Things flipped upside down at the end of April: my father-in-law sadly passed away. He was only 61 and still had so much to live for, so it was a shock to see him go so suddenly. Truthfully it was my first death so close to home which made it tougher to deal with, and it was yet another reminder that we’re living on borrowed time. We should all live without regrets and do what makes us happy.

That’s why I’m so happy to have a couple of trips lined up this month — 3 days in Amsterdam, Holland and a week in Algarve, Portugal — to distract me and help me refocus for the second half of the year.

3 days in Amsterdam

So this trip to Amsterdam is actually thanks to F-Secure, my sponsors over on LetsTalk-Tech.com — my technology blog. (Check it out and subscribe if you haven’t already!)

On the 18th of May they’re launching a brand new hardware product, so they’re flying me out to check it out and enjoy the Dutch capital of Amsterdam while I’m at it.

I’ll have the 17th & 19th of May to myself so I’ll be roaming the streets of Amsterdam. If you want to follow me around, make sure you’re following Fab Meets World on Instagram so you can follow my Stories. (If there’s anything in particular I should go and check out, let me know in the comments!)

A week in Algarve

At the end of May, the Mrs and I will be spending a week in Algarve at three luxury hotels & resorts, including Eden Resort, Hilton and Riu.

I can’t wait! I need some vitamin D in my life…

I’m really pumped about this trip because every time I’ve been to Portugal over the last few years, I’ve either stayed in Lisbon or Sines, a small coastal city. This time, I want to explore the tourist hot-spot of Algarve, indulge in luxurious hotels and explore that beautiful coastline.

What comes next?

For now, there are no other trips planned for 2017 but I’ll probably book a last minute getaway at some point. 🙄

Our wedding anniversary is in mid-July so we’ll probably aim to fly away then too, but as always I’ll keep you guys posted.
